Plans for a Missile Defense System in Europe, located in Poland and the Czech Republic have become too dangerous to continue by the U.S. and it's European allies because of possible Russian retaliation including the threat of nuclear attack. Russia now is threatening the U.S. and making plans for missile deployment in their territories while the U.S. is sitting back and refusing to change course on their plans to "defend" Europe against Iran. Military aggression is on the march.

As usual, the San Jose Mercury News can't make up its mind as to whether the Iraq war is good or bad. It "hopes" it'll end soon, but has never voiced any real opposition to the war or demanded for rapid withdrawal. Neither has it covered anti-war protests. While shedding crocodile's tears for the soldiers, it continue to promote the myth that the fighting is "for us." I've sent them a letter to protest their hypocrisy. The US Missile Defense System in Europe is still planned by the Bush administration and the Defense Department, despite vigorous protests by Russia heard all over Europe and to a few alert ears here in the United States. Fortunately Congress prevented funding the project for Poland and the Czech Republic, for the time being. Despite some protests by US activist groups as well as protestors in Europe President Bush and the Pentagon remain unmoved in their position.

Recently, in talks with Russia, the U.S. refused to alter plans to build the system in the future. Russia too remained adament in their stance- defend themselves against the threat of the US system by deploying missiles near the northern border of Poland, not far from the building site for our 10 (ten)Interceptors. All of these missiles have nuclear capability.

It was a sad day when we lost on November 4th, but even that disappointment was ameliorated by the many successes of our first-time, independent campaign against the Speaker of the House. Today was very sad, though. We have tried to raise enough money to keep our campaign going until 2010, but with the economy in dire straits and so many more people allowing the specter of "hope" to be in denial about historical trends, we had to lay off our employees and scrape together enough money to meet our final payroll.
