Senator (sic) Kucinich is at it again. This time he wants to deliver one million US signatures supporting the impeachment of George W. Bush to Nancy Pelosi by September 10.
US Representative Dennis Kucinich: "The decision before us is whether to demand accountability for one of the gravest injustices imaginable."
Ohio Senator (sic) Dennis Kucinich is not giving up his fight to have George W. Bush impeached during his last days in office. He has posted an online petition and invited U.S. citizens to assist in the collection of one million signatures by September 10 2008.
Speaker for the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has remained firm on her resolution that impeachment is "off the table." In August she told Time Magazine: "You can't talk about impeachment unless you have the facts, and you can't have the facts unless you have cooperation from the Administration. I think the Republicans would like nothing better than for us to focus on impeachment and take our eye off the ball of a progressive economic agenda."
But the possibility of confusing voters in the run-up to the Presidential elections has not detered Kucinich. Among his reasons for the campaign he lists that there should be a new standard set for the incoming administration and that the Bush Administration should be held accountable as soon as possible for the poor response to the catastrophe following Hurricane Katrina as well as the deaths in Iraq, both of American soldiers and Iraqi citizens that he estimates as being well over one million.

Of course there isn't going to be armed revolution (although there are people on this site who seem to think it's boiling up under the surface - LOL) and all the rallies, office occupations, campouts at Nancy's house, and (especially) ONLINE PETITIONS!!! are earnest but pathetically meaningless.
The vote is all Democrats understand, logically so in our system, btw; if they win this election - president & congress - they have no reason at all to give progressives more than what they already have, which is nothing.
Losing, however, in a year that started out with great expectations for them taking *everything* would be the kind of stunner that might get their attention. I say 'might' because most likely a losing Democrat party would just interpret a loss as a rejection by the middle and lead them to become even more moderate, ie look for a new Bill Clinton aka Hillary Clinton.
The core problem for progressives is the failure to withdraw from the two-party game; talking about doing so constantly between elections means zilch when the bottom line is always (reluctantly, oh so reluctantly) voting Democrat because the alternative - letting the evil Republicans win - is just too much to bear.
Of course this election will be no different - the Democrats may or may not win but they'll still be who they are. Meanwhile a genuinely progressive party already in existence - the Greens - will languish in 2% land forever and ever.

Although armed revolution is certainly justified - by no less than the founding words and principles of our very nation - we are in agreement it will not happen. But it is only because we have been indoctrinated into thinking those in the military are "our" troops vs George Bush's.
You ask for a magic answer I cannot give. If I had one, I'd be shouting it from the rooftops. My only suggestion at this time is to learn from our mistakes. We have seen how the criminal leaderships of both political gangs give their resident black sheep just enough rope to bring in new "gang members," but never enough to allow any substantive change.
The enemy of our America, and indeed the enemy of the world, is the Democratic/Republican Empire. While Dennis and Ron Paul have successfully divided opposition to this empire, there are still those trying to cement it. But the first part of your threat/promise completely negates the last; by giving Democrats until the end of the year, they are past the election, everything political is set in stone for the next two years, and you have even less bargaining power than you do now (which is none, practically speaking, but maybe some tiny bit theoretically).
What argument does Nancy and Conyers give for not pursuing impeachment? That it would be divisive, ie hurt the party politically, for this election and also those following.

I was in touch with Tim Johnson through a third party and he was going to start voting against bush right before HR6166 and he conveiniently had an aneurysm and has since continued voting stricktly rep. party line. Tom Daschle was about to get tough with the administration and he was sent an anthrax letter, and then was cheated out of his seat and given a consultant position for the carlyle group when that didn't work. We are facing bad old fashioned evil here plain and simple. Evil has not played by the rules ever and it never will. I have strong opinions about *everything* but I hope to God I'm not always obnoxious in presenting them. One-sided? Not in the sense that I don't see the other side or understand the argument you are making. Heck I've probably *been on* the other side at some point in my life. In my senior years, I've settled in with, say we say, firm convictions.
As for the Israel/Palestinian issue, you could change my mind, as you could on anything, if 1) you could show that I haven't studied the issue to a fair extent 2) that what I present is factually wrong. To be blunt, I don't expect to change your opinion or anyone's for that matter when I debate - I've never had that gift so I treat an encounter as a verbal/intellectual tennis match (I'm even worse at real tennis) - good exercise, good fun, let's go have a beer.

I asked you to simply present the photos you said you'd seen of "little ISREALI girls signing msg's on 105 MM artillary rounds that entailed msg's of hatred directed toward PALISTIAN children...in this photo, clearly, these little girls were being primed for a lifetime of killing and hatred."
You never came up with any such photos - jans posted a link to *one* photo showing *one* girl writing on *one* rocket. I don't know what she wrote, I don't even know if she is Israeli. I'm not about to take the word of that site's foul-mouthed owner about the photo. To say that she was writing messages of hate toward Palestinian children or was being primed for a lifetime of killing/hatred is an inference on your part, and an unjustifiable one at that based on that one photo.

MIKE I know your not an agent. Because of my lack of formal education, I come up shorthanded in an ability to express what i think and feel. I try to act like I got some ability, but it appears I don't and sometimes it can get me misunderstood and even in trouble. My last formal trainning was in the airline industry working in operations. there I have knowledge on how to set up a safe flt with respect to how much weight that PARTICULAR ACFT can lift off with at that particular time of day with respect to GRND temp, ba.r preasure, wind volocity etc and a whole list of other factors. (fat people) Different Capt's taught me different was to cheat (the FAA) on the numbers so I could get important freight aboard (oil drilling bits-excess oversize baggage)But i loved being physically out on the ramp and let me tell you this. I love the smell of JET-A exaust in the morning. Add the smell of 180 degree deiceing fliud, on a cold mornning, im in heaven brother. Heaven. Steve knows what im talkin about. Those first 6:00AM to 8:00AM flights!!
But I never had any formal education after high school. I try not to come accross like a redneck hillbilly. I could have put to good use my GI bill education benifits, but it took me several years after comming back here to the world, to fit in and take things as serious as they were in vietnam. I've always worked, not caused any trouble and don't have any eneamies. I know all the people living around me, I look out for them all, and their kids keep my grass cut and watch out for my dog.

You are plenty smart - believe me higher education is way over-rated and the little bit of college I got didn't help me get my job in the post office. How smart do you think I had to be to deliver mail for 30 years? I did have the sense to do it in the mild climate of Oakland rather than freezing/sweltering Central Illinois (or my 'other' hometown in sunny southern Arizona) LOL
Like old Abe from Springfield (btw he had a law office in Decatur at some point; we used to see his log cabin office in Fairview Park when I was a kid), I'm self-taught thanks to the internet and an enjoyment of reading even before it existed. That's the extent of our resemblance, I'm afraid. :)
Plus your Vietnam/military service makes you one of this country's unsung and unappreciated good guys. My own time there was unremarkable and definitely non-heroic but it's something I did and now I'm glad I experienced it (hated it at the time)

...Excuse me for butting in here and for going off-message, but I was wondering if you ever get to East Carpenter Street much? I was born there (1707 E. Carpenter Street) in July of 1941. Spent the first six years of my life at that address--my Grandpa's house. Went to kindergarten at a Palmer School.
There were about 20 of us living in that house back then--Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, my Mom and Dad, me and my Brother, Grandpa and Grandma. My Grandpa was Section Chief on a stretch of the B&O Railroad, and my Dad and some of his Brothers were his Section Hands.
There used to be a switching yard there at the end of the street, and I used to go down there and watch them string the trains together--old coal-burning locomotives with firemen and engineers who'd always wave back at me no matter how many times I'd wave at them.
For some reason, my Dad loaded Mom and us onto one of those trains and we moved to Arizona, where he got a job in the Copper Mines. Haven't been back there since.
Anyway, just wondering if the old place is still standing.

HI ROY. The most massive addition to that area is a new elevated bridge (going east-west) to carry East madison that becomes Clearlake Ave going over the rail road property. The B&O right of way, that went west down the middle of MADISON Ave is long gone. Madison is now a 4 lane throughofare from the west side to the rail road right of way, on the east side, in your memory. The B&O is long gone, so is the ILLINOIS CENTRAL, and the CHICAGO & ILLINOIS MIDLAND (owned by Commonwealth Edison). The ILLINOIS TERMINAL has been gone (absorbed into the NORFOLK SOUTHERN)since 1980, but the interurban pass station bld on CLEARLAKE still stands today, owned be a company called HENSON ROBINSON. Essentially, your old neiborhood is still intacted enough where you could still navigate around to places you remember.
The property in tha square mile and a half is essentially the same as in your memory. The old interlocking tower was recently torn down.
Palmer school amid the John Hay holmes (the projects) have been gone 20 years. all new development now.

It was Phelps Dodge Copper Corporation he went to, in Bisbee, AZ. That's where I grew up and graduated high school from. Tried to make a life there myself when I got back to the world, but it didn't work out--got restless/footloose/something. Hit the road for the rest of the decade. Wound up here, in NW Iowa.
Anyway, nice going back and forth with you, Scott. Maybe do some more, sometime. This machine freezes up a lot, though.

We have a somewhat similar story.
I grew up in Decatur, only a few miles from Springfield and we moved to Sierra Vista for my high school years and that's only a few miles from Bisbee. You probably graduated from Bisbee right before I got to Buena.
And we both ended up in other places but it's a small world.

Trolls hardly ever write a complete sentence ... let alone a coherent string of them. Two mike actually added a little substance for us to debate as apposed to something like "hippy liberal scum" for instance. Trolls dont do that because they have absolutly nothing to add to anything. Three mike signs his name. Trolls are a bunch of wussies that like to add several lines under the guies of anonymous so they can agree with themselves that being a way for them to puff up there numbers so it seems like it's five trolls when there is only one. No I think mike is just a pissed off yet concerned american who has a valid argument there worthy of further discussion. It takes nothing away from the fact that impeachment needs to happen he's just saying there stalling us which in my oppinion they are. Who ever "they" are. Thats another debate all together.

Amazing to find I now have two defenders (hello Scott!) here on the issue of my being a troll. Much appreciated!
A couple of points in response:
* on my using my real name: before I got an account a few months ago, I posted a few times but immediately noticed that my posts were being delayed for a moderator to check. Nothing wrong with that - it's the moderator's job - but I like to see my golden words immediately and with full credit to me, not attributed to some 'other' anonymous who may or may not be worthy of them. :)
So I joined using my real first name/last initial via a joint email account that seemed to cause Chip to think I was a girl. LOL. I guess that eventually got cleared up although my nemesis on the Anti-Israel thread pounced and said I was a Zionist female b**** or something to that effect. That was the last straw for me - I may be a lot of things but please get my sex right! - so I stopped reading his posts or responding to him. My blood pressure has been lower ever since. :)
I also discovered that Scott lives right next door to where I was born in Central Illinois and upon his questioning gave a boring but mercifully brief (I hope) chrono-bio of how I ended up in beautiful Oakland. I provided a few details of what I've done, just to hear myself type, but probably more than most people here divulge about themselves.
I'm too old to care much about what online people think of 'me' but I do try to be respectful of them and their opinions. That respect may mean I attack weak arguments or clear bigotry - I don't patronize anyone since I don't expect to be treated with such disrespect.
I also never use profanity online (in real-life I swear like a drunken sailor) and in fact try to throw in a little humor, sometimes a bit mocking of both myself and the other person.
I did, in hindsight, go over the top on my posts deriding the prospects for the subject of this entire board, what I now call the "I" subject since I promised not to talk about that subject again or even say the word. I don't actually think I was saying anything that many others here aren't or haven't said - that this group of congressional democrats have no intention of allowing "I" to happen, but I did say it over and over and it obviously could be seen to be dissing the site itself. So that topic is off limits - not a problem since even an old dog like me eventually lets go of the bone.
One more thing, just to clarify - I'm not 'pissed off' - I'm pretty mellow and don't share the gloom and doom that others here seem to have about the future. I might get worked up on a specific topic for awhile now and then (on Jew-hating, for instance) but I would have never lasted this long if I still had the rage that I had as a young radical in the 60's. Ah, to be young and angry 24/7 again...

Sure, our Squadron could get pretty rowdy back in the 70's and we had our share of brawls but there is a lifetime bond of brotherhood in the military community that never goes away. I think SCOTT knows what I'm talking about.
I will not stand by and do nothing while our Republic is being insidiously destroyed by enemies from within and our young brothers and sisters in the military communities are being exploited as expendable 'cannon fodder' by the most greedy, lying and evil war profiteering chickenhawks ever seen in United States history.
Nor will I tolerate someone who trivializes the destruction of our Constitutional Republic, the mass murder of soldiers and innocents, including women, children and babies. Anyone who has dealt with that kind of work would never be disrespectful of human life. Young men and women of conscience had the character to volunteer (something you should never do in the military sector) because they were led to believe that they would get a square deal for defending our Republic.
No one on this board agrees with everyone about how this tragedy happened and some are still unaware that it has happened. Most of the people on this site engage in constructive debates, share knowledge, ideas and verify important information.
That's how we become educated.
Some of us have worked in sensitive sectors of the Intelligence communities with family members. Saw things that they wish they had never seen. When they saw our Republic being destroyed by evil men they tried to warn the public and paid the ultimate price with their lives.
There is in fact a apathy in this Hamlet that is deadly.
When someone has the courtesy to share important information here that might not understood, they are not verbally assaulted with adolescent trash talk like "sick puppy", "liberal asshole" or other stupid profanities. Most of us are respectful enough to ask reasonably intelligent questions about things that we do not understand, debate it and appreciate the information exchange.
I certainly do not understand how this tragedy could have happened in the 21st century but I blame the sleazy Zionist owned media for most of it and enough public apathy for the rest.
Certain elements want to recklessly bomb sovereign nations that they cannot even find on a global map, a legendary quality of stupidity. These elements have been acclimated with so much fear and self gratification that it is all they ever want to know.
Some of us with open minds and critical thinking need something more.
When someone causes noise, annoyance and distraction, it becomes a liability for everyone because they burn a bridge of potentially valuable information exchange for everyone.
This is precisely what a counter intelligence agent does to nullify and "dumb down" the public (Cointelpro).
I stand by everything that I post and I encourage anyone who id interested to research and verify it just as I have critically researched and verified. Truth fears no investigation, it welcomes it.
That's how we learn.
That being said, I will continue to share pertinent information, ideas, ask questions and ignore anyone who tries to disrupt with drama.
